With a desire for green open spaces, Will Martin and his lovely wife Lisa were drawn to Spencer, VA 4 years ago from Brooklyn, NY. After studying Fine Arts and Marketing at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Will stepped away from art and went to work in logistics for a toy company. When lockdown happened in 2020, Will rediscovered his love of drawing and painting. Now when he's not caring for their 3 rescue dogs, Will spends his time illustrating scenes of monsters in everyday situations and fruit-based superheroes.
ABOUT THE PIECE
My concept is Appalachian cryptids doing everyday things in a local landmark - The historic Star Theatre in Stuart, VA. There are iconic folklore monsters such as the Mothman, Flatwoods Monster, the Snallygaster, the Grafton Monster, and the Raven Mocker doing an everyday thing, preparing to enjoy a show with friends. I love taking these ethereal creatures from legend and showing them acting just like us.
